DigiLocker is a key initiative under Digital India, the Indian Government’s most important program aimed at transforming India into a digital. It will make governance paperless and will empower India to keep their all important documents in digital form. DigiLocker ties into areas of providing citizens a shareable private space on a public cloud and making all documents / certificates available on this cloud.


DigiLocker is a platform for issuance and verification of documents & certificates in a digital way, thus eliminating the use of physical documents. Indian citizens who sign up for a DigiLocker account get a dedicated cloud storage space that is linked to their Aadhaar (UIDAI) number.

Business organizations which are registered with DigiLocker can upload their scanned copies of documents and certificates (e.g. driving license, Voter ID, School certificates) directly into citizens lockers.

Now drive without RC And License 


Now if you are driving and caught with Traffic cop and he demands your driving license or RC copy and you forgot to carry those. So now you can drive tension free without those documents if you are registered  with digi locker of Indian Govt.

If demanded by traffic cop, now you can show the digital copy of your RC or driving License, which will be legal proof as original.

With the help of Digi locker one can store all the important scanned documents in to it. Its very safe and handy. One can share/transfer any or all the documents very easily.

How to Open Digilocker Account

  1. Log on to official website at https://digitallocker.gov.in/
  2. Register yourself.
  3. Click on it and it will take to another window as:”Register for a DigiLocker Account”
  4. Then it will ask you to provide your aadhaar number.
  5. Fill  your “aadhaar number” in the box.
  6. For authentication/verification of your aadhaar number you will be provided with two option as “Use OTP” and “Use Fingerprint” ,  select any of one button or process to continue further step of registration.
  7. After selecting “USE OTP” an OTP or you can say one time password can be generated and it will be sent to you on your registered e-mail id or either on your mobile number.
  8. Enter the OTP you will got and select the authorize OTP button.
  9. Once OTP is verified, you will be redirected to set your personal username/password to complete sign up process.
  10. And if you wish to proceed with fingerprint option, then click on “Use Fingerprint”.
  11. Then you have to print the thumb using finger print device.
  12. If your finger print found valid, then you will be authenticated and soon redirected to set your username/password to complete sign up.
