Water is the most important element to life on Earth. Water drinking rules are set for health, decided by nature. Mostly people take drinking water for granted in fact Water should be taken very carefully for good health.

 

Never Have Water While Standing

According to Ayurveda/Natrupathy, water when consumed in standing position, the water quickly slides down the colon, there by blocking the nutrients in the water to be absorbed by body. This can lead to a lot of health issues such as arthritis, kidney damage and Gerd (Gastroesophageal reflux disease).

Have Water Sip By Sip

  1. Drinking Water in one go or galloping water is not at all good for health. – In our mouth our saliva is alkaline by nature and water should be given enough time to mix with saliva so it stabilises acid in our stomach.
  2. Sipping soothes your digestive system.
  3. Taking it in at one go can make your stomach upset.

Keep Drinking Water Through Out The Day

Sipping water through out the day will feel more satisfied and will have fewer cravings. It will prevent you from over-eating. Many a times when you feel hungry, it is a sign of thirst. So always sip on some water to see if the hunger pangs persist.

Never Have Cold Water

It is always advisable to have  water at room temperature as it satisfies your thirst better than cold water. Cold water can disturb your senses and kill your digestive juices. In fact, as per Ayurveda, drinking cold water with meals can turn out to be toxic for your digestion.

Have Less Water Before Meals

Drinking too much water right before your meal will end up filling your stomach with too much water. This will block your stomach for enough space to carry out digestive action. As per Ayurveda, your stomach should be filled with 50 per cent Solid foods, 25 per cent water, and 25 per cent should be left empty for the digestive process.
