Hash Browns at McDonald’s has a taste of its own, we all are aware that they have a strict policy towards breakfast serving, till 11 am only. After that no breakfast is served, in fact, their hash browns get over before time. so many times we miss that taste and craving for it remains until next morning to have those hash browns.


I’ll never forget the time my friend and I were standing in line to get McDonald’s breakfast hash brown, its aroma was amazingly wonderful.

What You’ll Need:

  • 3 medium sized potato’s
  • 3 tbsp milk powder (or corn starch)
  • 3 tsp softened butter
  • 3 tbsp plain flour (or rice flour)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/8tsp sugar
  • Vegetable Oil to fry
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 Egg (Optional)
  • 1tbsp Red chili flakes
  • 1 chopped onion (Optional in fastings)
  • 1tbsp potato powder


Grate potato’s & squeeze out the excess water (starch) with help of cooking paper, at least twice or till all the excess water (starch) is out.
Then saute the potato’s in a pan on a medium flame with 1 tsp butter for 5-7mins or till they are half cooked.
Remove & let it cool.
Add chili flakes, skim milk powder, flour, salt, sugar & egg (Optional) to the saute potatoes.
Knead all the ingredients into a smooth dough. One can also add some binding agent, I have added some potato powder for binding.
Now grease the plate with some butter and flatten out the potato dough with a rolling pin.
Freeze this dough for at least  2-4 hours and cut into the shape like what we get at McDonald’s.
Shallow fry it on a medium flame for 3 minutes or until golden, Turn and shallow-fry for a further 2 minutes or until crisp.
And now your very own Mcdonalds hash brown are ready, season your hash browns with salt to serve.
