Chicken lollypop, its mine favourite appetiser to order whenever we drop by any restaurant. I make it occasionally at home, because as i dint find chicken lollipop a fussy/time taken recipe, its an easy to make. This Chicken lollypop recipe is a restaurant style one, If you are checking excuse me for the blurry image. Chicken lollypop is one of kids favourites too, and it tastes spicy & delicious with a combo of any sauce or dips. It can also be served as snacks with hot tea..!
Preparation Time : 10 mins
Marinating Time : 30 mins
Cooking Time : 15 to 20 mins
Serves : 2 to 3
2 lbs chicken wings or chicken lollypops
1 tbsp garlic paste
1 tbsp ginger paste
6-10 green chillies paste
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp Red chilli powder
1/2 tsp vinegar
1 tsp Asian red chilly sauce
1/2 cup corn flour or corn starch
salt to taste
oil to fry
Initially you need to make lollypops out of the chicken wings available at the local market. This is probably the toughest step, and consumes a lot of time.
Cut each wing in to half, along the movable bone joint. Of the two parts left, one side will have two parallel bones, and the other side will have a single bone.
Discard/Remove the extra bone (smaller bone) from one side of each wing.
You will get two Chicken lollypops from each chicken wing.
Now, for each Chicken lollypop, cut the ligaments near one end of the bone so that the muscle separate
After it separates from the bone. Roll this muscle over to the other end, without cutting the ligaments at that end. The muscle will thus remain hanging, and can be rolled over to form a lollipop.
Now take a bowl, Add in Asian red chilly sauce, Add ginger paste, Add garlic paste, Add in Red chilli powder, Add some salt, soya sauce, green chillies paste and vinegar.
Mix all the ingredients mentioned above to form a marinade.
Note that since corn starch is present, you must take care not to let it form any lumps.
Marinate the chicken and leave for 30 minutes.
When ready to serve, add corn flour and mix well till coated properly. deep fry the lollipops and serve hot with chilli garlic sauce.
